Originally from Arkansas, Jerry moved to California when he was a year old and never left. As a youngster, he was a Club member in El Cajon, and discovered it was a great place for positive reinforcements. He went on to coach youth basketball at the Club, and then joined our board of directors in September 2006.
Carter is the Plant Manager of NRG Energy’s Encina Power Station located in Carlsbad. He embraces the dynamic nature of his position – the fact that there’s always something going on and it’s never boring.
Jerry’s home life doesn’t get too tedious either – not only does he have four children, but over the last nine years he and his wife of 26 years have cared for ten foster kids, typically teenagers. Jerry has found the Club to be beneficial for those kids, getting them involved in all of the social activities that are offered.
A graduate of Grossmont College, Jerry is currently pursuing his Bachelors of Finance degree at the University of Phoenix.
