The Clubs original location in the Village of Carlsbad has been renovated five different times between 1952 1999. The most recent renovation, completed in 1999 marked the most dramatic changes in the Club, with a dedicated technology center, covered swimming pool, gymnasium and teen center. In 1987 a second facility was added in La Costa to serve the southern sector of the city.
In 1992 the Club officially changed its name to the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad, following the lead of the National organization to include females in its daily programming and which today emphasizes teaching positive life skills, educational enhancement, and a full spectrum of arts, recreation, and leadership development opportunities.
Since 1952, the Club has served well over 50,000 youth, many of which still reside in the City. Our Club members have become policemen, firemen, teachers, doctors, lawyers, and leaders of corporations. Many of our alumni say the Club actually helped save their lives.
