Air Products' Electronics Specialty Materials Carlsbad Donates 10 laptops to Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad
(Carlsbad, CA - June 3, 2005) The Air Products Electronics Specialty Materials Carlsbad Facility presented 10 refurbished laptops to Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad on March 17, 2005. The laptops will compliment 15 desktop systems presently available in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad technology center.
While visiting the Boys & Girls Club to hand deliver the laptops, Air Products representatives Eileen Turner, Dave Myers and Carolyn Neilson were impressed with the work Boys & Girls Club members were doing on the computers—not only are kids able to do their homework, but they're also learning how to design web pages, business cards and brochures—all useful skills for the future. "I was amazed at all of the services available to the children attending the Boys & Girls Clubs and how extensive the offerings are. Boys & Girls Clubs provides a safe haven for children by offering them fun, fitness, and life skills between the time when school ends and their parents pick them up after work," said Eileen Turner, Air Products, Carlsbad plant manager.
The Air Products facility became involved with Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad through one of its employees, Andrea Otway (her children Ashley Barnes, age 11, Alexus Barnes, age 8 both Boys & Girls Club members), and through our community outreach efforts and involvement with Carlsbad City Councilwoman Ann Kulchin.
