(August 27, 2005 -- Carlsbad, CA)  Hotel developer Bill Canepa is investing $50,000 in a ‘can’t miss’ project for the future of Carlsbad.  The president of Wave Crest Resorts LLC is part of a growing list of investors helping the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad expansion.

“Any sound investor knows you look at the return before you make an investment,” said Canepa.  “When I look at a new Clubhouse for the children of Carlsbad I see the easiest decision I have ever made with my money – it is a can’t miss deal for this city.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is working on a new 18,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Bressi Ranch development located southeast of the El Camino Real/Palomar Airport Boulevard intersection.  Canepa’s generous donation will help build this state of the art facility that will supplement the Village Branch built in 1953 and will replace the mobile-home facility currently serving the La Costa area.

“It speaks volumes that someone with Bill’s eye for growth and development in the North County has chosen to invest in our new Clubhouse,” said Vice President of Operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad David Kulchin.  “We look forward to the completion of this positive place for our children, and we look forward to it being a place the families of Carlsbad can call a ‘home away from home’ for their kids thanks to the help of the generous donation from Wave Crest Resorts."

Canepa has specialized in waterfront resort development and his partnership owns the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach.  “For us hotel developers there is a misconception that we are only looking out for those visiting our cities,” said Canepa.  “I want everyone in Carlsbad to know that has never been further from the truth and I hope other developers will follow my lead and show this great city how much we care about these kids and their future.”
