DAVID KULCHIN SELECTED AS BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF CARLSBAD’S BOARD MEMBER OF THE YEAR

(Carlsbad, CA – February 22, 2006)  Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad recognized David Kulchin as Board Member of the Year at its 6th Annual Super Star Recognition Dinner on January 26, 2006, which honored the Boys & Girls Clubs’ generous community and business leaders, dedicated volunteers, an active board of directors, and outstanding youth.

If there was a contest to elect a “Mr. Carlsbad” based on community activism and volunteerism, David Kulchin would win hands down.  Nothing slows this determined guy down!  David Kulchin has been a Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad board member since 1999.  He has also served on the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, and is very active with the Carlsbad Hi Noon Rotary Club.

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, David Kulchin is a true leader, contributing time and effort that goes far beyond the expected.   In the past year, David has been the fundraising catalyst for our capital campaign, chairing our Major Gifts committee.  He also serves as the Vice President of Strategic and Resource Development, determining the tactical future of the Club.  He displays exceptional service and dedication to the young people of our community, and the Boys & Girls Club.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, David moved to Florida in his teens and received a BA in Psychology from the University of Florida, then a Masters in Education Administration from the University of Miami.  He took a job at Cape Canaveral, which eventually brought him to the West Coast and Hughes Aircraft in La Costa, where he was Human Resources Director.   An avid health enthusiast, David still works out regularly at the Olympic Resort.  He and his wife, Ann, have three children and eight grandchildren, and reside in the same house they bought twenty-seven years ago.
