Cabrillo Power I LLC Contributes $16,000 to
Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad
(November 15, 2006 – Carlsbad, CA) Cabrillo Power I LLC recently presented a $16,000 check to Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad to be used for operational support of their proven after school programs.
“Our company has a civic and environmental commitment to the communities we serve,” stated David Lloyd, Senior Counsel Western Region, NRG Energy, Inc., the parent company of Cabrillo Power. “Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad plays a critical role in the lives of youth, and that is why this partnership is so special to us.”
“We are grateful for Cabrillo Power’s sponsorship,” said Ron Sipiora, Chief Professional Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. “Their financial support helps us to provide exceptional programming to our members on a daily basis.”
Cabrillo Power’s Encino station currently supplies electricity for approximately 775,000 homes in San Diego County. The station received the San Diego Environmental Responsibility Award for spearheading efforts to eradicate an extremely invasive form of marine algae found in the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. Since 1999, Cabrillo has invested over $28 million in air emission controls, reducing air contaminants by approximately 95 percent.
