Frank Cowell Receives Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad "Spark Plug of the Year" Award

(April 26, 2005 - Carlsbad, CA)  Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad recognized Frank Cowell as Spark Plug of the Year at its 5th Annual Super Star Recognition Dinner on February 24, 2005, which honored the Boys & Girls Clubs’ generous community and business leaders, dedicated volunteers, an active board of directors, and outstanding youth.

This distinction was awarded by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad board of directors in recognition of Frank’s excellence in leadership, character, outstanding service, and for providing that extra added spark.  His initiative, knowledge of the what kids need to succeed, dedicated service, and great sense of Club spirit have been an inspiration to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad board of directors, staff and members.

Frank Cowell, III joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Board of Directors in June 2003 after learning about the opportunity through the BoardNet USA website. Along with his wife, Gesa (2004 Volunteer of the Year), the Cowells have lit a fire with their infectious enthusiasm for the Boys & Girls Clubs.  Frank, presently serving as Vice President of Technology on the board, successfully secured a $44,000 product grant from Cisco Systems, Inc. to upgrade the Boys & Girls Clubs technology infrastructure.

During Frank’s 26 years within the telecommunications and data communications industry, he has worked in the east coast tri-state area and internationally in Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico and China to name a few. Frank moved to Carlsbad in 1995 and joined Cisco Systems, Inc. in 2000. Frank's hobbies include outdoor activities with his family, as well as building and programming computers. He and his wife Gesa live in La Costa with their 5 children.
