Jim Salvia – Village Branch

Julie Martinez – La Costa Branch

(April 19, 2006 – Carlsbad, CA)  Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad recognized Jim Salvia (Village Branch) and Julie Martinez (La Costa Branch) as Employees of the Year at its 6th Annual Super Star Recognition Dinner on January 26, 2006, which honored the Boys & Girls Clubs’ generous community and business leaders, dedicated volunteers, an active board of directors, and outstanding youth.

Since he first started working at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad in September 2003, Jim Salvia has been a breath of fresh air.  Described by his peers and members as a “great guy,” Jim is a devoted employee who cares about his job and the kids he is responsible for.  During the past year, Jim piloted the Music Makers Program and earned his Advanced Leadership Certificate, hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Clemson University.  Currently the Program Director at the Village Branch, Jim grew up in Bedford Hills, New York.

Julie started working at the La Costa Branch in December 2004, and has demonstrated her passion for the Boys & Girls Club movement from day one.  Her four children are active in all Club activities.  In fact, her son, Gabe Pliego, was selected as the 2005 Youth of the Year for the La Costa Branch.  She is a mature, hard worker who is always willing to take on a challenge.
