Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Honors Ernesto Sanchez and Crystal Odom as Employees of the Year

(May 24, 2005 - Carlsbad, CA)   Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad recognized Crystal Odom (La Costa Branch) and Ernesto Sanchez (Village Branch) as Employees of the Year at its 5th Annual Super Star Recognition Dinner on February 24, 2005, which honored the Boys & Girls Clubs’ generous community and business leaders, dedicated volunteers, an active board of directors, and outstanding youth.

Since she first started working at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad in 2004, Crystal Odom has been a breath of fresh air. Her creativity with starting new programs has been priceless. She has been an integral member of the events “Fear Factor” and a Diversity Class, Power Hour, Girls in Sports and was a volunteer coach for some Boys & Girls Club leagues. One of Crystal’s projects involved engaging the children to care for the community by taking them to a local retirement home. Crystal loves helping children and goes above and beyond to do so.

Described by his peers as a “great guy,” Ernesto Sanchez is a very dedicated team member. As Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Teen Director, he creates a stable and supportive setting where young people can develop the skills and self-confidence they will need to succeed in a competitive world and become contributing self-sufficient adults.  Ernesto offers Carlsbad teens’ daily opportunities for leadership and personal growth supporting their transition to adulthood. He and his Boys & Girls Club teen members regularly schedule social recreation activities such as field trips to amusement parks, and community service activities such as volunteering at nursing homes. Ernesto is even known to volunteer his personal time on weekends to help with Boys & Girls Club remodeling projects. Not only is Ernesto golden at the Boys & Girls Club, he is having an all-around golden year. He is a first-time homeowner in Carlsbad and a new father.
