Local Businessman Supports Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad
Fred Kiko donates $250,000 towards new Clubhouse

(Carlsbad, CA – September 14, 2006)   Fred Kiko is investing $250,000 in our community’s kids, and ensuring they will receive the technology education they deserve.  The President of Simply Automated has a proven track record transferring innovative technologies into successful companies, and now he’s hoping to do the same for Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is a great organization.  Their dedicated staff make certain that kids achieve success when participating in their programs,” said Kiko.  “It is very satisfying that my contribution to the Technology Room of their new Clubhouse will make a significant impact on inspiring kids to get involved in our ever-increasing technological world.  I appreciate the opportunity to help.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is working on a new 18,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Bressi Ranch development located southeast of the El Camino Real/Palomar Airport Boulevard intersection.  Kiko’s very generous donation will help build this state-of-the-art Clubhouse, which will supplement the Village Branch (built in 1953) and will replace the mobile unit now serving the La Costa area.

“Fred Kiko lives in Carlsbad, does business in Carlsbad, and now he’s stepping up to the plate and giving something back to Carlsbad’s kids,” said Luke Matteson, the Club’s Vice President of Finance.  “Our Computer Lab is one of the most popular places for Club members – there’s always a line waiting to enter.  We are so grateful to him because this gift will give more kids the opportunity to improve their technology skills, which is so important in today’s fast-paced world.”

Prior to founding Simply Automated, Fred Kiko founded Excelsus Technologies, Inc., a company that lead to the commercialization of DSL modems.  Excelsus grew from nothing to $40 million in 3 years and was sold for $80 million.  Mr. Kiko holds over 35 patents on linear circuits, transformers and transmission products.  With the advent of Simply Automated, home automation is no longer a dream of the future.  His team members have developed and manufactured high-performance home automation products in high volume, making them affordable to the general public.
