Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc. Sets Tone for Carlsbad’s Future
Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad receives $75,000 donation
(July 1, 2005 – Carlsbad, CA) “It’s a no brainer. Our city, our state, and our great country depend on the youth that will lead us tomorrow,” said Stripe. He added “For more than 50 years, our Boys & Girls Clubs has provided a safe place for kids to learn and grow. The Club develops character, leadership, study skills, self-esteem and fitness – all in a safe and supportive environment.”
Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc.’s donation will help fund the construction of the Boys & Girls Club’s new state-of-the-art Clubhouse. This 18,000 square foot building will be the Club’s new headquarters and a supplement to the original Village Branch built back in 1953. The new Clubhouse will be in the Bressi Ranch Development located southeast of the El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road intersection. It will replace a tiny modular space that presently serves as the Club’s La Costa branch. As envisioned by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, the new facility will serve 200 youth on a daily basis and will include: a gymnasium, game room, teen center, technology center, learning center, as well as art, music, and dance rooms.
“There are already 15,000 kids between the ages of 6 and 18 in the city of Carlsbad and that number is expected to double in the next five years,” said Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad
Chief Volunteer Officer Patrick Casinelli. “To make sure our children have a positive and structured environment during the after school hours this new Clubhouse is critical, and we can’t thank Tim Stripe and Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc. enough for this generous gift.”
The President of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce knows how to listen to his community and he understands that if the Boys & Girls Club is to stay as fresh and vital as the youth it serves, a new Clubhouse is critically needed. Stripe says, “Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is the #1 ranked Club in the nation. And that’s working in a 50 year old building, and a 20 year old trailer.” Stripe went on to say, “Let’s give the new Club a firm foundation to help our local kids for the next 50 years. Let’s all invest in our kids, and Carlsbad’s future, by donating to the new Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.”
