KSWB Cares For Kids Donates $5,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad
(February 15, 2006 – Carlsbad, CA) KSWB Cares for Kids recently donated $5,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad to fund their Kids In Unison program, whose purpose is to practice a full inclusion philosophy for children with disabilities.
Kids in Unison encourages volunteer Club members to assist their physically and/or mentally challenged peers. The program’s mission is to offer children a supportive social arena, where they can develop necessary lifestyle skills while building lasting friendships, self esteem and creating their own positive vision for the future.
“It’s rewarding to see the relationships that form through the Kids in Unison program,” said Ron Sipiora, the Club’s Chief Professional Officer. “It’s truly a win-win situation for our Club and all the participants, and we appreciate KSWB’s generosity.”
Dakota Mullen, a child with Downs Syndrome, is a participant in the program. “Without the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, I don’t know what I would have done,” stated Kimberly Mullen. “They provide a place for my son to not only receive after-school care, but thrive, make new friends, and have a great time.”
KSWB Cares for Kids, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, was established to improve the lives of children and families in San Diego County by supporting local children’s charities. Since its inception, the KSWB Cares for Kids Fund has donated more than $16 million to local, children’s charities.
