Sharon Hurley (La Costa Branch) and Kimberly Mullen (Village Branch) Named Parent of the Year at Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Event

(May 13, 2005 -- Carlsbad, CA)   Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad recognized Sharon Hurley and Kimberly Mullin as Parents of the Year at its 5th Annual Super Star Recognition Dinner on February 24, 2005, which honored the Boys & Girls Clubs’ generous community and business leaders, dedicated volunteers, an active board of directors, and outstanding youth.

Sharon Hurley’s positive attitude is infectious. She loves to help out the Boys & Girls Clubs La Costa Branch by baking cookies, donating items or even recommending people who might help the Club. One such recruit was Sharon’s daughter, Natasha, who was named the La Costa Branch’s Youth of the Year in 2003, and is now a Jr. Staff Member. It was Sharon’s work ethic and guidance that have helped not only her daughter, but the Boys & Girls Clubs as well; in many more ways we can count.

Kimberly Mullen is a vocal supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs and is always the first to praise its efforts. She helps secure coverage in the local media, works to obtain valuable grant funding, and speaks eloquently at community groups on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs. Her son, Dakota, joined the Boys & Girls Club in 2000.  They both can be seen at the Boys & Girls Clubs on a daily basis.
