  Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Wins National Marketing Award

(Carlsbad, CA – June 13, 2006) Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad has recently won a prestigious award in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) 19th Annual Marketing & Communications Awards Program for Publications, sponsored by Tupperware Brands Corporation. Outside professionals with expert knowledge and leadership positions in the fields of marketing, advertising, publicity and media relations, website, publications and special events served as judges for the competition. Winners, who exemplified excellence in marketing and communications strategy and practice, will be honored and awarded at BGCA’s 100th National Conference in Boston in May.

“We are delighted to receive this honor knowing we competed with over 200 Clubs around the country,” said Ron Sipiora, Chief Professional Officer for the local Club. “Our board members realize the importance of getting the Club’s identity and mission known and understood, because we depend on the support of the community to fulfill our commitment of service to the children of Carlsbad.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.bgca.org) comprises a national network of some 3,700 neighborhood-based facilities annually servicing more than 4.4 million young people, primarily from disadvantaged circumstances. Known as “The Positive Place For Kids,” the Clubs provide guidance-oriented character development programs on a daily basis for children 6-18 years old, conducted by a full-time professional staff. Key Boys & Girls Club programs emphasize character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation.
