Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Announces 54th Annual Golf Classic Sponsored by TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company
Mike Levesque of Lennar San Diego Named as Honorary Chairman
(CARLSBAD, CA – February 16, 2006) – Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad today announced that it will hold its annual fundraising golf tournament on March 27 at the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, whose programs and services serve to promote and enhance the development of girls and boys by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company joins the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad as presenting sponsor for the seventh year in a row. Others sponsors include Barratt American, Inc.; FORMA; Geotek; GMG Stone; Interior Specialists, Inc.; Lennar; Charles Schwab & Co Inc. Carlsbad; John Stevenson Plumbing; Waste Management; and.
El Camino Country Club will host the day’s events, which include a $1,000 grand prize drawing (must be present to win), an auction, and on-course specialty spirits from local restaurants, microbreweries and wineries. The Golf Classic will be played in a scramble format with contests including Hole-in-One, Longest Drive and Inside the Circle. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. - the Putting Contest follows shortly after at 10:30 a.m. and the tournament begins at 12:00 p.m. with a Shotgun Start. An awards dinner, sponsored by Harris Fence Company, Bank of America and Creative Touch Interiors will honor the tournament and contest winners immediately following the tournament (around 5:15 p.m.)
Mike Levesque, regional vice president of Lennar San Diego, has been named the honorary chairman of the event. Levesque has been involved in the home-building industry for nearly 15 years, predominantly with Greystone Homes, now part of the Lennar family of builders.
Over the last five years, Levesque has acted in a leadership role in the building industry at the local, state and national levels. Locally, he participated on several committees and commissions for The Building Industry Association (BIA) of San Diego, serving as vice president in 2003 and president in 2004. In 2003, Levesque was Alternate Director for the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and California Building Industry Association (CBIA), and was also a member of the CBIA Land Use & Economic Growth Task Force.
Levesque joins several local business leaders in assisting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad’s tournament, which is anticipated to be a sold out event. Scott Grugel of Interior Specialists, Inc. is the event’s Steering Committee Chairman.
