Spark Plug of the Year
John Harelson

(Carlsbad, CA – February 26, 2007)  Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad recognized John Harelson as Spark Plug of the Year at its 7th Annual Super Star Recognition Dinner on January 25, 2007, which honored the Boys & Girls Clubs’ generous community and business leaders, dedicated volunteers, an active board of directors, and outstanding youth.

This distinction was awarded by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Board of Directors in recognition of John’s excellence in leadership, character, outstanding service, and for providing that extra added spark.  His initiative, dedicated service, and great sense of Club spirit have been an inspiration to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad board of directors, staff and members.

John Harelson joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Board of Directors in September 2005, and has been invaluable in helping to promote the Club.  He is always the first to volunteer and last to leave – in general, epitomizes the role of a board member.  John has also been instrumental in forming relationships with many local businesses.

Currently, John is a vice president and commercial lender with Torrey Pines Bank, covering North County.  His responsibilities include opening and staffing their new Carlsbad office, which is located only a quarter mile aware from the new Boys & Girls Clubhouse site.
