Sundown Lighting & Electrical Helps Kids Go Back to School In Style

Employees Provide Backpacks for Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad

(Carlsbad, CA, October 18, 2005) --  When school opened in September, there were 19 very happy kids due to the generosity of Sundown Lighting & Electrical employees.  Each Carlsbad-based employee filled company-provided backpacks with school supplies, and then gave them to winners of a contest hosted by the staff of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.  “We started doing this program in honor of 9/11, and since our company has grown, we decided to allow each of our three branches to choose their own local charity,” said Scott Tapia, Service Manager of Sundown Lighting & Electrical.  “A few of our branch employees were members of Boys & Girls Clubs during their youth, and we wanted to give something back.”  Andre Walker, Unit Director of the Village Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, said “The kids and their parents are so excited, and it will make going back to school that much more meaningful to each of them.”
