Digital Arts Festivals
One Voice, One Club, One World: Inspiring Acceptance through Digital Arts is the theme for the National Digital Arts Festivals, sponsored by Microsoft. Designed to encourage and celebrate a Club member's creativity and technological ability, five festivals are offered: Music Making, Photo Illustration, Moving Making, Web Design and Graphic Design. The festivals provide opportunities for Club members who participate in the Digital Arts Suite of programs to gain recognition locally and, potentially, regionally as well as nationally. Each festival is the culmination of one program from the Digital Arts Suite and five Club Tech programs in technology and the arts: Music, Photo, Movie, Web and Design Tech all available from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. Festivals in Movie Making - Screenplay and Video Production - began fall 2003 and culminate spring 2004. Two other festivals, Web and Graphic Design are underway now.
Drama
The Village Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad has teamed with Classic Youth Theatre to offer a remarkable learning experienced gained from appreciating, understanding, and performing dramatic productions. The program stimulates motivation, promotes self-discipline, challenges intellectual curiosity and deepens reflection. Group learning and group trust are nurtured through rehearsals. Drama club members gain self-confidence and discover positive channels for creative energy. |
